Ghillie Dhu is a modern Scottish ceilidh band based in Edinburgh, Scotland that has been performing since 2007.

Known for our energetic live shows, the band blends traditional Scottish folk music with contemporary influences to create a fresh and engaging ceilidh experience.

Our performances combine classic dances with easy-to-follow calling, ensuring guests of all backgrounds can join the fun.

​Having played events across the UK, Europe and Asia, we bring a professional, high-energy atmosphere to weddings, corporate events, parties, and festivals.
Our ceilidhs includes all the favourites from the Gay Gordons to the Orcadian Strip the Willow, with clear step-by-step instructions so everyone can join in.

For a modern twist, we keep the classic trad lineup—fiddle, guitar, drums and vocals—while reimagining contemporary songs in a Scottish folk style, inspired by artists like Mumford & Sons, The Killers, Avicii, Calvin Harris and Faithless.

With professional sound equipment, we’re equally at home playing for 100 people or 1,000 often performing locally in Scotland as well as internationally.
